Amador was built during the construction of the Panama Canal. It includes a
2.5 Km causeway, built with the ruble from the excavation of the Canal, that
connects three islands (Naos, Flamenco and Perico) which serves as a wave
breaker and protect its entrance.
Because of its strategic location it used
to be an American fort for the
protection of the entrance of the Canal, and is today one of the most visited
areas of Panama by both visitors and locals, with many attractions and great for
bicycling and leisure walks. It is located just minutes away from downtown and
Banking and Insurance Center in Panama City.
Visitors remember it most for the grand view
of the entrance to the Panama Canal and of the Bridge of the Americas, which
spans it, and for the spectacular view of the Panama City and its skyline
